Our Funding Policy

Please note that the NTR Foundation cannot accept unsolicited applications. Our approach is to actively identify organisations that fit our mission. We do not fund other areas.

The NTR Foundation’s mission is to address the challenges posed by climate change, resource sustainability and security of energy supply through the provision of targeted financial and expert support to projects, research and non-governmental organisations

This will be done through a combination of traditional grant-making (Policy & Research Projects) and the use of venture philanthropy methodology for NTR Group projects and the large multi-annual investments in International Projects. The NTR Foundation benefits from a funding commitment from NTR plc of €5 million cash and 2.26 million NTR plc ordinary shares. In addition, NTR Group businesses in the US and Ireland will each provide matched funding for green projects in their own communities over the next five years.

The NTR Foundation will fund entrepreneurial solutions to the challenges posed by the issues of climate change, resource sustainability and security of energy supply.

The NTR Foundation will fund policy/academic research when it serves to increase the knowledge base in our core funding areas and/or to address identified knowledge gaps in information/policy.

The NTR Foundation will only fund projects that are strictly mission aligned, environmentally focused, that provide a solutions-orientated approach to service provision and/or thought leadership.
