Mary Robinson Foundation - Climate Justice
The Mary Robinson Foundation - Climate Justice (MRFCJ) is a centre for thought leadership, education and advocacy on the struggle to secure global justice for those many victims of climate change who are usually forgotten - the poor, the disempowered and the marginalised across the world.
The NTR Foundation is providing support for the key post within the MRFCJ of Dr Tara Shine, Head of Research and Development. Dr Shine has worked as a technical adviser on environment, development and climate change issues for over 12 years. Much of her work has been carried out in developing countries resulting in an acute understanding of the issues and challenges faced by governments, research organisations and the non-governmental sectors in combating poverty, environmental degradation and climate change.
Dr Shine has been actively involved in the climate change negotiations since 2003 as a member of the Irish, Dutch and Luxembourg delegations and as an EU negotiator on issues including capacity building, adaptation and finance. She is also a former member of the UNFCCC Consultative Group of Experts, the EU Expert Group on Adaptation and the Irish Impacts and Adaptation Steering Group.
By working with the Mary Robinson Foundation we are looking to stregthen the impact of our own funding initiatives and support the policy drivers and priorities that can make a real difference on the climate change agenda. We are looking forward to working with Dr Shine and supporting the enhanced understanding of the issues and impacts of climate change globally.
