International Projects
Through our International Projects funding stream, the NTR Foundation will seek to support existing work underway, through investments directly into well-led organisations, which have a strong track record of success.
Overview
The NTR Foundation will invest in a small number of large multi-annual projects that involve both service provision and thought leadership. The NTR Foundation will directly support well-led organisations, which have a strong track record of success.
In keeping with its entrepreneurial heritage, the NTR Foundation will also support projects that demonstrate innovation in addressing the issues of climate change, resource sustainability and security of energy supply.
For its first international project investment, the NTR Foundation is focusing on clean energy generation in the developing world using a proven technology.
The Need
Energy use in the developing world is increasing rapidly to support economic growth necessary to raise living standards. In large parts, this energy consumption pattern is fuelled primarily through the expoitation of fossil fuel supplies, rather than renewable energy sources.
To address the challenges of climate change and achieve a low-carbon and sustainable energy future, accelerated and substantial investments in renewable energy and energy efficient systems are required.
Such investments will generate obvious economic and environmental benefits, reduce GHG emissions, and esae growth in fossil fuel based energy demand. Access to clean energy technologies can also improve the life of some of the 1.6 billion people worldwide who live without access to energy.
PLEASE NOTE: The NTR Foundation will not respond to unsolicited applications. Applications for this investment will be by invitation from the NTR Foundation only.
